Betting Analysis: Dan Henderson vs. Rousimar Palhares
Can Dan “Hollywood” Henderson bounce back after back-to-back losses against Anderson “The Spider” Silva and Quinton “Batshit Crazy” “Rampage” Jackson? Fighting those two guys consecutively is like an NFL team having back to back games scheduled against the Colts and the Patriots. Most of the time you are going to lose both of those games and in Dan Henderson’s case he happen to lose both of those fights. Does this make Dan Henderson chopped liver? We don’t think so. Henderson is an extremely experienced fighter who has an impressive fight record of 22-7, and has been in some freaking wars against elite competition. Henderson’s wrestling is top notch, his defense is scary good, and his chin is rock solid. If you can stand up and bang with Rampage for 5 rounds it’s going to take a pretty heavy handed dude to knock your ass out.
Rouismar Palhares is an interesting cat. He is only 5’8’’ but he is thick as hell. Don’t be surprised if he becomes the 13th “Pitbull” in the UFC because he really looks like one! Like most Brazilian’s he definitely has serious skills on the ground. Then again finding a Brazilian fighter who is not dangerous on the ground is like finding an American guy who doesn’t watch the NFL on Sunday. NOT HAPPENING.
Rousimar Palhares was impressive in his UFC debut against Ivan Salaverry, submitting yet another one of his opponents (six of his eight victories have come via submission) but let’s not get overly excited about a submission victory over a guy nobody has ever heard of.
Clearly Rousimar Palhares needs to get this fight on the ground to have a shot against Dan Henderson. The bad news for Palhares is that Dan Henderson is a ridiculous wrestler, which will make it really difficult for him to get him on the ground. To make matters worse he doesn’t have enough confidence in his striking ability, and has no choice other than to become a one dimensional fighter. Once Rousimar Palhares realizes he can’t get this fight on the ground he will be forced to stand up and bang with Henderson. Bad news. We like Henderson in a second round KO.
The line at Dan Henderson -225 is pretty fair for a fighter of Dan Henderson’s caliber against an inexperienced fighter like Rousimar Palhares. We love action so we will bet $900 to win $400.
