We’ll never post another photo of Matt Hamill again, who should’ve had Rich Franklin’s busted nose on the matt right about where Amber and Andrea are in the above pic.
Listen, the first last thing that we like to do is pile on someone when he’s down.
But Matt Hamill…what an asshole.
Hamill you may recall was one our picks to win at UFC 88 in Atlanta. But he fought an inexplicably bad fight against Rich Franklin‘s busted nose. A fight strategy that even his trainer is questioning.
In an exclusive interview with Fightline.com, Hamill’s trainer, Duff Holmes, said:
“I practically begged Matt to take Rich down…I was screaming at him to stop fighting Rich’s fight and fight his fight. I can’t explain it. He just had this blank look on his face. I don’t know where he was, but the Matt Hamill that I know and trained for the past 11 weeks was not in that octagon on Saturday.”
Hamill and Franklin are tight. And Franklin was instrumental in Hamill getting his start on The Ultimate Fighter.
So maybe Hamill’s heart wasn’t in it. Which is approximately no excuse in our books.
If Rule #1 of MMA Fix is to never bet against Georges St. Pierre, and Rule #2 is to never bet against Anderson Silva, then Rule #3 should be to never again bet on Matt Hamill.
It’s purely a rule made out of spite, but we love us some spite. Spite is not something beneath us…beneath us like how Rich Franklin should’ve been against Matt Hamill.
