UFC 98 Best Bets: Rashad Evans (+150) vs. Lyoto Machida (-200)

Betting Analysis: Rashad Evans vs. Lyoto Machida

The main event of UFC 98 has the potential to be really good or really boring. Nowhere in between. Rashad ‘Rod Tidwell’ Evans is set to square off against the undefeated challenger Lyoto Machida. Nobody is yet to figure out how to even hit Machida so we are anxious to see what Greg Jackson has drawn up for Evans.

Machida is the most dynamic fighter the UFC has ever seen. People literally can’t hit this guy. He is the Winky Wright of MMA. So far nobody has been able to match his karate style of fighting. His punches and knees are so dangerous because nobody knows which way they are coming from. On top of that, his take down defense is rock solid, and he has world class jiu jitsu. So not only do you have to worry about this guy striking you from crazy angles, but you also have to worry about his submissions. That pretty much sums up why this guy has never lost a round in the UFC.

Tidwell is on an unbelievable run and a great champion. He is a true student of the game. Early in his career he was nothing more than a big strong wrestler. Now with the help of Greg Jackson and the boys he has evolved in to a dangerous striker as well (ask Chuck Liddell). Each time Evans fights he looks better and better. This is definitely going to be his biggest test of his career because Machida has flat out looked unbeatable.

If Rashad has any chance to win this fight he has to resort back to his wrestling skills. It is far to dangerous to stand toe to toe with Machida.. Machida has shown time and time again that his style is impregnable. Even though Evans has the edge in power, it doesn’t do any good if you can’t hit your opponent. If Evans can get Machida on his back then he may have a shot. Getting Machida on his back is easier said than done though. Evans is the best wrestler Machida has ever gone up against, so it will be interesting to see just how good his take down defense is.

In the end, we see Machida frustrating Rashad which will lead to a deadly mistake. We can’t bet against a guy who has never even lost a round in the UFC.

We will bet $500 on Lyoto Machida to win $250. Bet here.
