Kevin Randleman has once again provided fans with material for another ‘ripping yarn’ as to why the veteran is more than deserving of the nickname “Monster.” MMA Fix has received word that although the fighter apparently arrived in St. Louis earlier this week 20lbs. over the 205lb. limit, Randleman made weight this afternoon, for his light-heavyweight clash Saturday with Mike Whitehead. Not bad for a 38 year-old dude. (Many of us at MMA Fix have trouble not gaining 3lbs. daily, let alone lose 20)
Of course no one should really be surprised, as the “Monster” is the same man that tossed Fedor Emelianenko on his head so easily at a Pride card in 2004, clean up crews apparently asked Randleman to pick up the ring afterwards, rather than break it down piece by piece.
Randleman will fight Whitehead on the undercard of Strikeforce’s “Lawler vs. Shields” event. The UFC vet last competed in May, 2008, when he worked his way to a Unanimous Decision over Ryo Kawamura at a Sengoku event.
