Brett Rogers has wasted little time getting the good ol’ smack talking- hype machine going, (and the MMA Gods should bless him for it) after Strikeforce confirmed yesterday, that the undefeated heavyweight would fight the renowned Fedor Emelianenko sometime in the fall.
When asked for his evaluation of Fedor, in an interview with MMA Fanhouse, Rogers stated that he is ready for the former Pride champion’s ground game, if Fedor can get him to the ground, and that further, he believes the Russian leaves him self open when he gets excited. (Which judging by Fedor’s out of ring, shall we say, ‘lukewarm’ demeanor, the only time the guy does get excited is when he’s about to bruise somebody’s brain.)
I’m going to knock him out. He’s going to give me his chin, somehow, someway. He’s going to get sloppy with that overhand right that he loves to do or he’ll try to shoot in for a takedown, and I’ll catch him with either a knee or an uppercut … something. I’m going to drop him. I want the crowd to go (gasp). I want to get that reaction out of people. So I can’t wait.
Nice. In more ‘now that’s what I’m talking about’ rhetoric from Rogers, the physically imposing fighter stated that he will be “the God of MMA,” if he beats Fedor, and that further, UFC champ Brock Lesnar “is overrated.” (Residents of Minnesota State should remain on the look out for large vehicular objects, that may come hurling through your roof from Lesnar’s property, over the next 24hrs. ‘Sable’, were relying on you to keep Brock calm…)
