All signs continue to point to yes, regarding the arrival of Antonio Rogerio “Minotoro” Nogueira in the UFC, as the manager of the Nogueira twins, Ed Soares, has confirmed that ‘Lil Nog’ is close to signing with the the promotion. Last week, Rogerio’s brother, former UFC interim champion Antonio Rodrigo “Minotauro” Nogueira, stated in a UFC teleconference call that his bro would likely be making his UFC debut soon. (Yes, apparently looking exactly alike wasn’t enough, so they were also given names that are nearly identical…)
Speaking to MMA Bay, Soares was quoted saying:
“I can confirm that his brother might be coming to the UFC. I have a feeling everything is looking good and I think we’ll probably see him if all goes well before the end of the year fighting inside the octagon.”
Rogerio Nogueira, who is widely regarded to be one of the planet’s best light-heavyweights, has only lost to Thierry Rameau Sokoudjou and “Shogun” Rua since 2002, and is a guy who has a submission win over Dan Henderson. So, in other words, ‘Lil Nog’ is no joke. If he does indeed sign with the UFC, the light-heavyweight division will continue to be deeper in talent than a strip club line-up on a Friday night. (No offense to the girls who dance during buffet hours of course…)
