Betting Analysis: Chris Leben vs. Jake Rosholt
This weekend marks the first time Chris Leben (18-6) will fight in nearly a year, as the former TUF competitor was suspended for testing positive for stanozolol, following his UD loss to British star Michael Bisping last October. Will the cage rust hurt him? Probably not. Leben has been around the game for years, and further, he’s reportedly a gym rat at his facility in Hawaii.
What could hurt Leben is his opponent Jake Rosholt (5-1), who despite the fact he’s coming off a ‘why am I gurgling so bad?’ submission loss to Dan Miller in February, the Xtreme Couture fighter is a work/ highly touted prospect in progress. Why? Rosholt is one of the more decorated collegiate wrestlers to transition into MMA. (The 4 time All American’s trophy case rivals Tiger Wood’s…)
Leben spent years training with Team Quest, and although his takedown game likely can’t match Rosholt’s, he may be able to make things difficult for the wrestling star. When people think of Leben, they usually recall him either pissing on some dude’s bed in season 1 of TUF, or knocking out someone silly with his sledgehammer of a left hand. That said, Leben’s guard is somewhat underrated, and Rosholt will have to be on the look out for a submission if he puts the middleweight on his back.
Bottom line, there are still a few questions about Rosholt’s overall game at this juncture in his MMA career, compared to Leben, who is a well rounded vet.
