Anderson Silva vs. Vitor Belfort in Works for Feb.6th

In the latest news to surface regarding the “so is Silva going to fight Belfort or what?” sega, MMA Junkie is reporting this afternoon that “verbal agreements are in place,” which will see Anderson Silva defend his middleweight crown against Vitor Belfort on February 6th. The report states that the UFC 109 date is “contingent upon Silva’s recovery process,” as “The Spider” recently had surgery on his elbow, which kyboshed Dana White’s hopes of having the champ fight Belfort on January 2nd. That’s a card which should be named “Don’t Count on It”, as 3 proposed main events have been axed now due to injuries and illness- Silva vs. Belfort- no can do. Shane Carwin vs. Brock Lesnar-cut due to Lesnar being crazy sick, and the latest, Antonio “Minotauro Nogueira vs. Cain Velasquez- postponed because Big Nog has staph…
It appears then that the UFC brass has given the middleweight champion the good old ‘yeah, yeah, so what?,’ to Silva and his manager Ed Soares consistent statements, that they don’t feel Belfort deserves a title shot at this juncture. Really this shouldn’t come as a surprise. With Dan Henderson still out of the picture and Yushin Okami recently losing to Chael Sonnen, the UFC doesn’t have a lot of options for Silva, other than a rematch with Nate Marquardt, which the champ has also given the ‘meh’ to.
Wonder what Hendo makes of all this?
