Earlier today we passed on the news that commercial spots for Saturday’s CBS broadcast of the Fedor Emelianenko and Brett Rogers bout have sold out; more evidence to us that hype seems to be building for the Strikeforce card. Staying on that theme we see (thanks to Bloody Elbow.com) that Fedor was featured prominently in the sport’s section of the Chicago Sun Times, a story which states (Dana White close your eyes) that the Russian “is the most talented heavyweight in the world.”
The report goes onto say that apparently Fedor had a large say in picking Chicago as the location for the fight, and no, it wasn’t because he’s a big Cub’s fan or that he loves Chicago style hotdogs. According to Strikeforce CEO Scott Coker:
”We actually had a couple offers to take it to the Atlantic City and the New Jersey area, but actually, Fedor and his group wanted to fight in Chicago.”
While “The Last Emperor” himself stated:
”There are a lot of Russian people nowadays in Chicago,” Emelianenko said through a translator. ”I love to perform for the American people, but also for the Russian people as well.”
We’ll a lot of American people love watching you perform Fedor, unfortunately, far too many will opt to watch Deal or No Deal Saturday night instead.
To bet on Saturday’s fight go here.
