Often in the world of MMA if you’re not producing highlight reel ‘holy sheet’ moments for fans every 4 to 6 months, fighters can fall off the sport’s radar screen faster than you can say Seth Petruzelli (The dude that derailed the Elite XC / Kimbo Slice hype machine with his jab). A great example of the above is none other than Patrick Cote. Due to the fact Cote hasn’t fought since October, 2008, when he injured his knee while fighting Anderson Silva, the 13-5 fighter has largely disappeared from MMA chit-chat altogether.
Well, according to a recent post on Cote’s Facebook account (thanks to MMA Bay for the quote), the Canadian slugger continues to recover from yet another knee surgery he underwent earlier this year, and will be back in the Octagon in early 2010.
“Still following my rehab program and it’s going very well!! Back in shape and can’t wait to fight again. I’ll be back around April guys!! Thanks for the support!!!!”
Now although Cote’s bout with Silva was less than thrilling, and no one’s suggesting he deserves an immediate rematch, the middleweight faired a lot better than most guys have against the champ. Rich? Forrest? Anyone else agree? In other words, Cote should get to throw down with someone pretty good non?
