Brian Stann is a +200 Underdog to Chael Sonnen

In what I like to call, “The Battle Between Good vs. Evil,” the sportsbooks have “evil” pegged as a (-260) favorite. Now, Chael Sonnen is arguably the rightful favorite having displayed a really good performance against Anderson Silva; however, that performance is tainted in my eyes after his positive PED test and also because he’s kind of an ass. I say this without knowing him, but I’m a chick and we have that stellar intuition. Though Sonnen was on a decent tear well over a year ago with wins over current title contender Yushin Okami and over his fellow testosterone boosting comrade, Nate Marquardt, (which may have been the most fair fight he ever fought) the fact remains he hasn’t fought in over a year and UFC 136 will take place in October, a full 13 months from his last entry into the Octagon. Hey, that’s borderline Wanderlei Silva ring rust! But, I digress… Sonnen is still a legitimate favorite, yet let’s take a look at our underdog…

Brian Stann is a UFC golden boy right now. He’s got to be in a better mind set than Sonnen. He may be the (+200) underdog in the sportsbooks but he’s the favorite All-American-Hero in the public’s eye. That may seem like a weighty pressure to hold but he’s a decorated military man; he can handle it. Stann started off rocky in the UFC with a submission loss to Krzysztof Soszynski in 2009 but overcame his loss and though he lost again to Phil Davis, via decision, he’s gone on to finish each of his last 3 fights with submission and TKO wins. That’s a little impressive and worth the dog line here.

UFC 136 is a few months away but take advantage of the sizable dog money now ’cause as always, those lines will change as the event nears.
